Abstract Nowadays, students are getting addicted to smartphones, resulting in their academic anxiety and poor academic performance. As such, this study has been conducted to explore the prevalence of smartphone addiction amongst college students and its relationship with their academic anxiety and academic performance. The study has adopted a descriptive survey method. One hundred college students, aged 18 to 21, have been selected as a sample using the simple random sampling Technique. A self-adapted version of the Smartphone Addiction Scale SAS-SV developed by Min Kwon and colleagues in 2013, and a self-developed anxiety scale have been used for data collection. Data have been analysed using percentages and the Pearson Correlation coefficient technique. College students are moderately affected by smartphones, and a positive relationship has been found between smartphone addiction and academic anxiety in college students. The study revealed no significant relationship between smartphone addiction and the academic performance of college students. But a negatively significant relationship has been seen between academic anxiety and the academic performance of college students.
