Author(s) Dr. Pratima Sharma, Prof. Ajay Kumar Bhardwaj
Country India
Abstract The soybean (Glycine Max) is a globally important crop, valued for its high protein, oil, and isoflavone content. Isoflavones, a class of phytoestrogens found predominantly in soybeans, have been associated with various health benefits, including cancer prevention, cardiovascular health, and alleviating menopausal symptoms. This study focuses on the isolation and quantification of isoflavones from ten varieties of soybeans obtained from different regions of India. The research aims to quantify the isoflavones in soybeans and explore their variation across different cultivars. Results revealed a wide variation in isoflavones content, suggesting the influence of both environmental and genetic factors. The study provides valuable insights for selecting soybean varieties with enhanced isoflavone content, which could be beneficial for human health.
