Abstract Abstract
The education of teachers is closely associated with social and cultural aspects that influence the work of teachers in classes. In the given study, the topic is Sociological Foundations of Teacher Education: Bridging Society and Classroom Practise, the researcher concentrates on the aspects of gender and academic stream as the key factors. The total population included 1,200 student-teachers enrolled in B.Ed. and D.El.Ed. programs. A sample of 500 trainees was used for analysis. Only published reports and research articles were used as data sources. Data were analyzed using simple descriptive and inferential statistics. The results show that female trainees have higher professional attitudes and better classroom practices than male trainees. Differences between science and arts stream students were small and not significant. The findings suggest that teacher education programs should focus on gender-sensitive training and strengthen sociological understanding to help future teachers connect classroom practice with social realities.
