Building Confidence through Drama and Role Play

Author(s) TONAYA AZMI
Country India
Abstract Drama and role play are increasingly recognized as effective educational tools for enhancing children’s self-confidence, social skills, and emotional development. This paper explores how structured drama activities and role-playing exercises contribute to building confidence in children and adolescents. Drawing on recent empirical studies and educational theories, the paper identifies key mechanisms, including experiential learning, emotional expression, and peer interaction. The findings highlight that regular engagement in drama and role play fosters self-efficacy, improves communication skills, and reduces social anxiety. Evidence-based recommendations are provided for educators, parents, and curriculum designers to integrate drama into formal and informal learning contexts.
