Role of Teachers in Promoting Peace and Tolerance

Author(s) Mr. SOUVIK MANDAL
Country India
Abstract This paper examines the critical role teachers play in fostering peace and tolerance among students. In an increasingly diverse and globalized society, cultivating understanding, empathy, and conflict resolution skills in children is essential for harmonious coexistence. Drawing on contemporary educational psychology and peace education research, the paper highlights strategies teachers can implement, including classroom dialogue, cooperative learning, inclusive pedagogy, and modeling respectful behavior. Evidence suggests that teacher-led interventions promote social cohesion, reduce bullying, and encourage prosocial behavior, contributing to a peaceful school environment and responsible citizenship.
