Role of Family Bonding in Child’s Mental Health

Author(s) ALAMIN MONDAL

Abstract This research paper examines the critical role of family bonding in shaping children’s mental health and emotional well-being. Family bonding, characterized by warmth, communication, support, and trust among family members, significantly influences a child’s psychological resilience, social skills, and capacity to manage stress. Drawing on contemporary developmental psychology theories and empirical research, this paper argues that strong family bonds are associated with lower levels of anxiety, depression, and behavioral problems, while weak family connections increase the risk of emotional and psychological difficulties. The paper also highlights practical strategies for parents, educators, and policymakers to strengthen family cohesion and support positive mental health outcomes in children.
