Emotional Intelligence in Primary School Students

Author(s) ANKAN DUTTA
Country India
Abstract This paper examines the role of emotional intelligence (EI) in the development, learning, and social interactions of primary school students. Drawing on contemporary research in psychology and education, it explores how EI—encompassing self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, and social skills—affects academic performance, peer relationships, and emotional well-being. The paper also discusses factors influencing EI development, including family environment, school climate, and teacher-student interactions, and provides recommendations for fostering emotional competencies in young learners.
