Herbal Approaches in Feminine Hygiene: A Review on Natural Alternative for Vaginal Health

Author(s) Vaishnavi Ghadge, Vrudhi Gowda, Ms. Vrushali Randive

Abstract This review explores how herbal remedies can naturally support feminine hygiene, blending insights from traditional wisdom and modern science. It emphasizes that keeping the vaginal area clean and balanced is essential for overall health and comfort, while many chemical-based products may cause irritation or disrupt the body’s natural pH. By contrast, plant-based alternatives offer gentle, effective care using ingredients like neem, aloe vera, chamomile, turmeric, tea tree oil, and sea buckthorn—all known for their soothing, antimicrobial, and pH-balancing properties. Throughout the review, both the scientific benefits and safety of these herbs are discussed, showing how they can ease irritation, prevent infections, and promote long-term vaginal wellness. The study concludes that herbal formulations are a promising, safer path for everyday feminine care but highlights the need for further scientific validation, quality control, and greater awareness to ensure women can access reliable, evidence-based natural products.
