Abstract In past people make deposit their money and valuables items in temples because these places of worship were considered as the safest place to keep these valuables. Probably it was the earliest form of banking; gradually it develops, accepts modifications and becomes the present form of banks. Majority of the people in rural areas have no access to banks because they feel it is not necessary for their living. Financial inclusion is the delivery of banking services and also includes other financial services like insurance, pension schemes, fund remittance, and mutual funds etc, delivered at affordable costs. Limited access to affordable financial services such as investment in savings account, availing of loan, remittance of funds and insurance services by the majority of the population in the rural areas believed to be acting as a constraint to the growth experience in these sectors. The main objective of this study is to identify the financial awareness and financial access of rural households of Kongad Panchayath. The survey provides insight to improve the financial access and attitude of rural households on financial inclusion.
