| Abstract | Background: Musculoskeletal pain is one of the most common health problems among workers who perform repetitive tasks or maintain awkward postures for long hours. Jewellery shop employees often work in static positions, such as sitting or standing for extended periods, which can increase the risk of developing musculoskeletal pain. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of musculoskeletal pain among jewellery shop employees and to identify the most affected body regions using the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire (NMQ) and Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 80 jewellery shop employees selected through convenient sampling. Participants completed the NMQ to identify the presence of pain in different body regions and the VAS to measure the severity of pain. The collected data was analyzed using descriptive statistics to find the prevalence and commonly affected areas. Results: The study found that lower back pain was the most common musculoskeletal complaint, reported by 47.4% of participants, followed by neck pain (20.7%). Pain in the upper back and ankle/feet was reported by 6.9% of participants each, while hip/thigh and shoulder pain were found in 6% of participants. Knee pain (3.4%) and wrist/hand pain (2.6%) were the least reported. These findings indicate that prolonged sitting and awkward postures during jewellery work contribute significantly to musculoskeletal discomfort. Conclusion: The study concludes that poor posture and repetitive tasks are the primary causes of lower back and neck pain among jewellery shop employees with prevalence of 47.4% in low back. |
