Impact of Motivating factors on Agro-based Small Scale Industries in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh

Author(s) Dr. D Chandra Purna
Country India
Abstract This study investigates the key motivating factors driving entrepreneurs to establish Agro-based units. Based on a survey of 88 entrepreneurs, the research utilizes weighted mean scores to analyse a range of motivational, influential, and practical factors. The findings reveal that intrinsic motivations, such as the desire to lead an independent life and achieve personal goals, are significant drivers for starting a business. Key external influences include previous knowledge of the industry, exposure to the success stories of other entrepreneurs, and the availability of government subsidies and incentives. The study also identifies that business ideas are primarily sourced from friends, family, and educational backgrounds. Reasons for selecting a specific line of activity were found to be influenced by the ease of market entry, potential for higher profit margins, and advice from family members. These insights are valuable for policymakers and support organizations aiming to foster entrepreneurship in the agricultural sector.
