| Abstract | Education is essential to the formation of the social and economic framework of a country. It increases productivity and innovation and adds value to a nation’s humancapital. This paper looks at the Indian education system economically, focusing on its configuration and significance, the challenges it faces, and the government’s attempts to enhance it. It analyzes the impact of education on economic growth and the generation of job opportunities. This also looks at policies inclusive of NEP 2020 which attempt to make education more inclusive and oriented towards skills. It is concluded that education is a social demand and a powerful engine that fuels the development of the Indian economy. |
