| Abstract | Introduction: Intelligence Quotient (IQ) is a critical indicator of cognitive development in school-aged children and is influenced by a variety of factors, including nutrition, environment, and traditional interventions. Ayurveda offers several Rasayana (rejuvenation) therapies aimed at enhancing cognitive functions. Vruddhadharuka Rasayana, a polyherbal formulation, and Shatapushpa Choorna, a classical single-drug preparation, these are traditional Ayurvedic formulations known for their Medhya (intellect-promoting) properties. However, their comparative efficacy in improving Intelligence Quotient (IQ) in children has not been scientifically evaluated. This trial aims to assess and compare the efficacy of these two Ayurvedic formulations on IQ enhancement in school-aged children.Material and Methods: This is a prospective, open-label, randomized controlled clinical trial of a total of 30 participants with IQ scores ranging from 70-109 [Borderline IQ-70 to 79, Low Average-80 to 89, Average-90 to 109; Scores obtained after conducting verbal and performance subtests - based upon Malin’s Intelligence Scale for Indian Children]. Trial group: Participants in the trial group will receive Vruddhadharuka rasayana for the duration of 30 days. Control group: Participants in the control group will receive Shatapushpa choorna for the duration of 30 days. Conclusion: The study’s findings may potentially demonstrate that the Vruddhadharuka rasayana is as effective as Shatapushpa choorna on enhancement of Intelligence Quotient in school children. |
