Abstract The present study investigated the impact of gamification on the engagement levels and academic performance in mathematics among 32 fifth-grade students. Employing a quantitative methodology with pre-test and post-test measures, the research compared shifts in mathematical achievement and student engagement following the implementation of gamified learning activities. Post-intervention analyses revealed a statistically significant improvement in both engagement and mathematics performance compared to pre-test scores, indicating the impact of gamification in enhancing students’ learning outcomes. These findings suggest a positive correlation between increased student engagement and enhanced academic achievement, supporting the integration of gamification into elementary mathematics curricula to cater to diverse learner capabilities. The study contributes to existing literature by affirming that gamified educational environments can effectively bolster both cognitive outcomes and participatory engagement, particularly as students encounter more abstract mathematical content.
