| Abstract | Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) is a fast-growing payment innovation that is changing the way consumers shop, in both physical and online retail. This systematic review integrates evidences drawn from quantitative research with focus on predictors of BNPL adoption utilizing the lens of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Unified Theory of Acceptance of Technology (UTAUT), particularly Perceived Usefulness (PU), Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU), Perceived Trust (PT), and Social Influence (SI). An organized search in large databases was performed, and a systematic literature review was implemented in order to identify and examine the works that address these issues according to the items described by PRISMA. View it in a separate window Identification of studies A total of 22 quantitative studies were identified and purposively selected for detailed synthesis. The result shows that PU and PEOU continuously influence BNPL adoption intentions; PT and SI act as critical moderators especially when financial literacy is at low level. The study adds to the literature by addressing a contextual void in public-sector fintech uptake. Furthermore, this work also offers practical guidance to the policy makers who are planning digital financial service strategies, staff welfare schemes and customer protection policies. |
