| Abstract | Abstract Cotton buds (also known as Q-tips, cotton swaps, or cotton sticks are widely recognized as a common household item, but they also broader applications in art, medicine, and cleaning. Driven by the desire for accessible and sustainable art materials, this study investigates the potential of cotton buds as a material for creating mosaic art. The inherent uniform shape of the cotton bud allows for the easy production of a pointillistic visual effect, reminiscent of traditional mosaic’s granular nature, but with a unique, soft, and three-dimensional texture. Through an experimental research design, we examined the feasibility of using cotton buds as tesserae and explored the creative possibilities of this unconventional medium. Our findings suggest that cotton buds can be used to create unique and visually striking mosaic artworks. |
