| Abstract | Globally, the construction business has grown significantly, especially in the last few decades. Ensuring the safety of both persons and buildings is crucial for the success of any construction project. From the beginning of the design process until the project is finished and turned over, safety considerations must be made. Workers in the construction business, both professional and unskilled, are vulnerable to health hazards and accidents on building sites. For safe working conditions, which are severely lacking in Indian construction enterprises, there has to be effective coordination between contractors, customers, and workers. Despite the existence of worker safety regulations, building sites continue to be the scene of numerous accidents. From the beginning of the design process until the end and handover of the finished construction, safety considerations must be made. There are health hazards and accidents on building sites for both expert and unskilled labourers employed in the construction sector. Indian construction enterprises severely lack the necessary coordination between contractors, customers, and workers toensure safe working conditions. The hazards of workplace accidents and occupational health issues are present for a huge number of construction workers. For a building company, accidents and sickness may be quite expensive. Considering the existence of labour safety rules, there are still a lot of accidents occurring on building sites. The management's lack of attention to employee health and safety is another issue. A thorough review of the literature was done in order to comprehend the reasons behind accidents, how to avoid them, and how to create safe work environments. The results of a questionnaire survey that was given out to different groups of construction workers in the Chennai area are presented in this project. In-depth analyses and discussions of the project's total working hours, work shifts, worker nativity, accident rate, and injury types on both small and major construction sites are provided. |
