Ayurvedic Management of Karnanada w.s.r. to Tinnitus –A Case Report

| Abstract | Background: Tinnitus is the perception of sound such as ringing, buzzing, or roaring without an external auditory stimulus, affecting a significant portion of the population and often associated with hearing loss, stress, and reduced quality of life. The noise can be intermittent or continuous and can vary in loudness. In Ayurveda, it can be consider under the concept of Karnanada due to similarities of the symptoms, primarily caused by Vata vitiation. Conventional treatment provides only symptomatic relief, whereas Ayurveda offers holistic strategies aimed at both symptoms management and root-level administration. Materials and methods: In the present study a 26 years old male patient of Karnanada(~Tinnitus) came to the outpatient department with complaints of ringing sounds in both ears,disturbed sleep since 3 months.The patient was treated with Ksheerbala taila 101A Nasya , Apamargakshara taila Karnapoorana and Ghrita Pana for 1 month. Result:The patient showed relief in tinnitus along with complete relief in the disturbed sleep with no recurrence in follow up period of 1 month. Conclusion: Ayurveda offers a comprehensive management approach for tinnitus by addressing both symptomatic relief and underlying Dosha imbalance. Integrative use of local therapies, internal medications, and lifestyle modifications highlights the potential of Ayurveda as an effective and sustainable management strategy for Karnanada. |
