| Abstract | This study explores the relationship between self-affirmation, self-esteem, and life values among Generation Y (1980 to 1994) and Generation Z (1995 to 2014). Using a comparative approach, the research examined whether self-affirmation correlates with self-esteem and life values across the two generational groups while also analysing gender differences in these variables. The Spontaneous Self-Affirmation Measure (SSAM) was used to assess self-affirmation, the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) measured self-esteem, and the Life Values Inventory (LVI) evaluated life values. The findings indicate no significant correlation between self-affirmation and self-esteem in Generation Z, suggesting that self-affirmation may not directly influence self-worth among younger individuals. Additionally, no significant gender differences were found in self-esteem, life values, or self-affirmation within either generation. These results highlight the evolving nature of self-perception and personal values, emphasizing the need for further exploration into generational shifts and contextual influences on self-affirmation practices. The study provides insights for psychological research, educational interventions, and personal development strategies tailored to different generational cohorts. |
