Redefinition of Hotel Guest in the New Normal: Analysis of Local Tourism Footprints

Abstract The purpose of this study is to determine the emerging preferences and trends in hospitality industry in the Philippines thus, redefine hotel guests through the analysis of local footprints. This descriptive study investigated these preferences in terms of safety, convenience, price, level of service satisfaction, sustainability, and frequency of visits. Data gathered through the use of a survey questionnaire that was administered to three hundred (300) respondents were analyzed using statistical tool. Demographic profile of respondents showed that all of the respondents are of on legal age and can respond to research questions to extract reliable answers. Most of them are in the medicine and finance industry and have visited hotels and resorts this current year. Trends and preferences of hotel and resorts guests revealed that security means the availability and efficient use of technology and automation while convenience speaks of more personalized services. Based on the findings, hotels and resorts are encouraged to invest on the use of high-end technology tools and equipment in ensuring the safety of customers. Personalized experiences and recreational activities and offer tasty cuisine to achieve high level of satisfaction, convenience, and frequent visits. Price must be reasonable and loyalty programs must be heightened as advertisement mechanism.
