Financial Inclusion and Poverty Reduction: Role of Microfinance Institutions

| Abstract | Microfinance institutions (MFIs) are revolutionary because they provide low-income individuals simple access to banking services including savings accounts, loans, and insurance. In this study, we look at how microfinance institutions (MFIs) affect people's ability to get loans, make money, and improve their standard of living. Researchers looked at secondary data from sources like MFIN India and NABARD as well as official government economic statistics to see how microfinance outreach, loan portfolios, borrower numbers, and beneficiary income changed over time. Results show a dramatic decrease in multidimensional poverty across a number of states and considerable socioeconomic improvement, particularly among low-income groups. But cultural barriers, commercial inefficiencies, and regulatory constraints keep the industry from reaching its full potential. At the end of the article, we provide some policy recommendations to help make financial inclusion a reality. |
