Cultural Epoche: Bridging Indian and Western Philosophy through Jitendra Nath Mohanty and Edmund Husserl

Author(s) Bhaswati Talukdar, Dr. Sabitri Devi
Country India
Abstract Cultural epoche expresses the possibility of understanding human experience beyond inherited boundaries of thought and tradition. It begins with the idea of suspending fixed assumptions, not only about the external world but also about one’s own cultural beliefs and values. Such reflection opens a path toward genuine dialogue among civilizations and restores philosophy to its role as a search for shared meaning. Cultural epoche invites an attitude of openness where reflection becomes a bridge between ways of knowing. It draws attention to the inner capacity of awareness to rise above bias and see truth in its living context. Through reflective pause and self-critique, human understanding becomes both humble and creative, capable of embracing difference without domination. The movement from self to culture and from culture to humanity marks the spirit of Cultural epoche, a quiet but profound gesture toward unity through reflection and consciousness.
