Abstract Portland cement is a vital and irreplaceable material in the global construction industry, playing a fundamental role in concrete production. Given its widespread use, it is essential to evaluate the quality of different cement brands to make informed decisions when selecting the most suitable product. This thesis investigates the physical properties, chemical composition, and microstructure of different manufactured cement brands. The study evaluates key physical properties, including consistency, setting times, fineness, and specific gravity. Compressive strength tests were performed to assess and compare the performance of each cement brand. Additionally, the chemical composition of both anhydrous and hydrated cements was analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), while the oxide composition of the anhydrous cements was determined through Energy Dispersive X-ray Analysis (EDAX). The microstructural characteristics of the hydrated cements were also examined. The findings provide a comprehensive comparison of the selected cement brands, offering valuable insights into their quality and suitability for various construction applications.”
