| Abstract | The roots of Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of medicine, are deeply embedded in the philosophical traditions of India. This study explores the significant influence of Darshanas on the fundamental principles of Ayurveda. darshana, born out of human curiosity to understand the nature and origin of the universe, parallels Ayurveda's quest to comprehend the origin, state, and cessation of life. Among the various philosophical systems, the concepts derived from Sankhya, Vaisheshika, and Nyaya Darshanas have profoundly shaped Ayurvedic doctrines such as the Tridosha theory, Panchamahabhuta, and Padartha Vijnana. While philosophy provides a metaphysical and logical framework, Ayurveda adapts these ideas with clinical intent, transforming abstract concepts into practical tools for diagnosis, treatment, and understanding human constitution (Prakriti). This analytical study highlights how Ayurveda has assimilated philosophical principles while maintaining its independent identityas a holistic health science. |
