| Abstract | This study examines youth perceptions, awareness, and adoption of sustainable behaviours in Ahmedabad, with a focus on how demographic and socio-economic factors shape climate engagement. A cross-sectional survey of more than 4000 respondents captured climate-related concerns, household practices, policy knowledge, willingness to pay, and engagement with sustainable technologies. Results indicate that higher education and income levels are strongly associated with greater climate literacy and adoption of eco-friendly practices such as solar panels, electric vehicles, and composting. Age and gender also influence perceived personal vulnerability and engagement. Despite near-universal awareness of climate change, adoption is constrained by economic barriers, limited policy knowledge, and perceived product durability. Water-related risks, particularly shortages and pollution, were widely recognized, with relative risk analysis highlighting differential vulnerability. These findings underscore the need for targeted, equity-sensitive interventions combining financial incentives, policy communication, and community-level initiatives to foster broader, effective participation in climate mitigation and adaptation among youth. |
