| Abstract | Abstract Sustainable business practices have emerged as a vital component of India’s economic development agenda, balancing growth with environmental stewardship and social responsibility. This study examines the various government policies and initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable business in India. It highlights key programs such as the National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC), Make in India (with a focus on green manufacturing), the Perform, Achieve and Trade (PAT) scheme, and policies promoting renewable energy, waste management, and corporate social responsibility. The study explores how these policies encourage industries to adopt cleaner technologies, enhance resource efficiency, and integrate sustainability into corporate strategies. It also analyzes the challenges faced by businesses in implementing sustainable practices, including regulatory compliance, financial constraints, and limited awareness. Through a review of policy frameworks and case examples, the study concludes that while India has made significant progress in fostering a sustainable business environment, stronger enforcement, public–private partnerships, and capacity-building initiatives are essential for achieving long-term sustainability goals. |
