Bodo Weaving: A Cultural Heritage of Assam

Abstract Bodo weaving is a traditional textile craft of the Bodo community in Assam, India, highlighting its cultural significance, traditional techniques, and artistic value. Bodo weaving is renowned for its vibrant colour, intricate design, and unique patterns, reflecting the community’s rich cultural heritage and traditional craftsmanship. This discussion provides an overview of the traditional attire, handloom weaving techniques, and the natural fibres used in Bodo weaving, as well as its important in preserving cultural identity and promoting economic empowerments. Weaving is a cottage industry of the Bodo’s. The analytical and descriptive method has been applied in this study and data has been collected through the primary and secondary sources.
