Adoption of AI Chatbots for Improving Service Efficiency in Eateries

Abstract This research investigates the possibility of integrating AI chatbots into restaurant functions, particularly highlighting their ability to lower labour costs, boost efficiency, and enhance customer service. By visiting various eateries close to Madras Christian College, the existing order-taking methods were examined, and potential applications for AI chatbots were discovered. The study shows that AI chatbots can simplify the ordering procedure, lower human mistakes, and decrease the requirement for extra personnel, particularly during busy times. Additionally, AI chatbots allow customers to arrange pickup orders ahead of time, provide options for menu customization, and streamline payments with integrated systems, enabling customers to pay directly through the chat interface without having to engage with a cashier. These characteristics improve service efficiency, customer happiness, and operational processes. Although the results stem from studies conducted in small dining establishments, the lessons learned apply to small businesses and larger restaurant chains, showcasing how AI chatbots can enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction throughout the food service sector.
