Exemplifying Ethical Reporting Through Lens of Narad Muni: The Archetypal First Journalist in Hindu Mythology

Author(s) Dr. Pardeep Singh Bali, Ms. Manmeet Kour
Country India
Abstract Narad Muni, one of the most respected rishis in Hindu mythology, is frequently referred to as the first journalist of the world, because of his position as a messenger of the cosmos going through the three realms-Heaven, Earth, and the Netherworld-to deliver the news, wisdom, and transformative information. This paper touches upon his legend, traits that correspond to those of a modern journalist, some incidents from Puranas and epics revealing his "journalistic" activities, and his function in present-day India. Analyzing traditional and contemporary sources, it reckons with Narad’s impartial, timely, and result-oriented communication as being an exemplar of ethical reporting principles which is a legacy across time.
