| Abstract | This study examines the differences in skill acquisition between diploma and engineering students in mechanical disciplines, based on survey data from technical institutions. Findings reveal that diploma students demonstrate higher practical competence in machining and production processes, while engineering students possess stronger theoretical knowledge in automation and design. The study highlights the need for hybrid curriculum models integrating practical exposure, software-based simulations, and industry collaboration to enhance employability and bridge the gap between academic learning and industrial requirements in India’s evolving manufacturing sector. |
