| Abstract | Microformulations are the emerging innovative advancements in the field of novel drug delivery systems, which have shown immense potential in enhancing patient compliance, improving therapeutic efficacy, and minimizing side effects. This comprehensive review explores various micro-formulation technologies, including microsponges, microspheres, microneedles, and microemulsions, providing an in-depth analysis of their types, mechanisms of action, methods of preparation, and evaluation, as well as their prospects in various fields, including pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, biotechnology, and others. By highlighting the advantages, benefits, and challenges associated with microformulations, this review aims to provide a comprehensive understanding and perception of their potential in transforming drug delivery systems and processes. |
