| Abstract | Family businesses are central to global and regional economies, yet they encounter distinctive challenges in succession planning and sustainable growth. This paper explores how artificial intelligence (AI) and business analytics can support succession processes and scaling strategies in family enterprises undergoing digital transformation. Based on secondary research, the study synthesizes insights from the Resource-Based View (RBV), Socioemotional Wealth (SEW), and Technology Acceptance Models (TAM/UTAUT) to examine the interplay between digital capabilities, governance structures, and family identity. Findings indicate that AI and analytics can strengthen transparency, improve successor evaluation, and generate predictive insights for expansion. At the same time, tensions arise between technological adoption and the preservation of socioemotional wealth. The study also highlights barriers such as cultural inertia, governance rigidity, and gaps in empirical evidence, particularly in emerging markets. Overall, it emphasizes that family firms thrive when digital competence is integrated with tradition and identity in succession. |
