Abstract Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is characterized by social communication challenges, restricted interests, and repetitive behaviors that often limit participation in meaningful daily occupations. Emerging interventions such as Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and neurorestorative technologies—including brain–computer interfaces (BCIs), neurofeedback, non-invasive brain stimulation, and digital therapeutics—offer innovative and transformative approaches to enhance communication and neural engagement. Occupational therapists are uniquely positioned to integrate these technologies within purposeful activities to promote functional independence, self-regulation, and quality of life. This review synthesizes current evidence on AAC and neurorestorative technologies, explores theoretical frameworks guiding their application, and highlights the clinical, ethical, and translational implications for occupational therapy practice.
