Importance of Research Support System in Rural College Libraries: A Systemic Study

| Abstract | This study methodically investigates the demand and accessibility of Research Support Systems (RSS) in rural college libraries throughout India. The report emphasizes the importance of rural libraries in addressing educational and research deficiencies, particularly in relation to the National Education Policy 2020, utilizing content analysis, interviews, and a literature review. The results show that rural libraries have serious problems that make it hard to adopt RSS effectively. These problems include not enough money, not enough digital infrastructure, and not enough competent staff. The research suggests gradual, cost-effective, and impactful strategies, like research guides, tool suggestions, and collaborative consortia for the phased advancement of RSS, even though there are certain challenges. As resources and institutional capabilities grow, it is suggested that advanced services like support for academic publishing and research data management be adopted. The study finds that improving RSS in rural libraries not only makes research more productive and visible, but also makes knowledge more accessible to everyone, brings local libraries up to worldwide academic standards, and helps the country move forward. Policymakers, college administrators, and librarians can use these actionable findings to develop strong and long-lasting RSS models that work well in rural academic settings. |
