| Abstract | The younger generation primarily relies on the internet to obtain any content instantly even if there are numerous libraries and museums where people can study and learn about people and their varied cultural practices. This highlights the significance and need for a platform that offers a database of the social and cultural customs of people all over the world. These kinds of platforms might be helpful resources for multidisciplinary researchers and professionals for their studies in our increasingly globalized society. Specifically for ethnographic studies. This paper introduces the works of one such platform named People's Archive of Rural India (PARI). PARI is an online journal and archive that portrays the daily lives of India's rural inhabitants. Through written and audiovisual media, PARI makes an effort to conserve and highlight the diversity of the rural population in India. The website is open to everyone and contains accounts from thousands of Indians about their ordinary lives and social customs. This paper tries to emphasize the work of PARI as a resource to study the evolving cultural practices of rural India and how other comparable platforms could be built using its model to form a database for virtual ethnographic fieldwork. The aim of this study is to comprehend how social media and the internet may be utilized to build a platform to preserve people's social and cultural activities so that they can subsequently be used for ethnographic research. |
