The Sociological Dimensions of The Theory of Yajña in the Bhagavad Gītā

Author(s) Dr. Nishad T.S.
Country India
Abstract The concept of Yajña (sacrifice) occupies a central position in Vedic and post-Vedic thought. Originally signifying ritual offerings to the Devas through fire (Agni), the term gradually evolved into a broader philosophical and ethical principle. This paper examines the transformation of the idea of Yajña as presented in the Bhagavad Gītā, highlighting its sociological dimensions and its implications for individual and collective welfare.
