| Abstract | This study purpose is to examine and compare the two most significant infrastructure and geopolitical initiatives: the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) of China and the India and Western-driven India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC). Both these initiatives point to the growing intersection between trade and geopolitical competition in the new conflict for global supremacy. The BRI focuses on increasing land and maritime infrastructure across Africa, Asia and Europe, aiming to strengthen its position in these territories. At the same time, the IMEC aims to strengthen economic ties between the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East, and Europe, offering an alternative to the traditional routes through the Suez Canal. Although they differ in their origin and governance, both initiatives share the objective of expanding infrastructure networks to facilitate access to European markets and promote economic development and foster regional development in the involved regions, concurrently enhancing the influence of their respective superpowers. This research will examine key logistical infrastructure components, such as strategic ports, maritime routes, railway connections, and major logistics hubs along both routes. This research article will show how the geopolitical competition between India’s led IMEC and China not only inquires about strategic importance in current geopolitical dynamics but also disclose how this rivalry is expressed through competing logistical and trade strategies for global masterdom. |
