Abstract Personal Branding for students has gained momentum recently as many recruiters are seeking talent ready to be deployed from the first day. The personal branding of students helps in marketability and employability, yet students perceive certain attributes as more important than others. This study aims to understand the gap between the perceived importance and actual performance of various attributes, revealing the true image of students' personal brands. Data was collected from Tamil Nadu students through an online questionnaire using Likert scales to measure 28 attributes of importance and performance. The findings confirm that demographic factors affect the true image of students’ personal brands.
