| Abstract | New nitrogen containing cyclohexenone derivatives are synthesized by a clean, simple, and green method using graphite as a heterogeneous recyclable catalyst under grinding. Graphite can be readily separated from the reaction mixture and reused, offering a cost-effective approach for large-scale synthesis of bioactive molecules. The MTT cell cytotoxicity investigation results of the synthesized compounds indicate that novel 2-((4,4-dimethyl-2-oxo-6-(4-fluorophenylimino)cyclohexyl(substitutedphenyl)methyl)-3-hydroxy-5, 5-dimethylcyclohex-2-ene-1-one derivatives possess effective cytotoxic potential against NCI-H460 cell lines with the IC50 concentration of 81μg/ml, 60 μg/ml, 56 μg/ml, 30 μg/ml, and 41 μg/ml, respectively. Cisplatin with 15 μg/ml concentration was used as a standard control for the study. Overall, compounds demonstrated adequate cytotoxicity against lung cancer cell lines and may act as lead molecules for the development of potential anti cancer drugs. |
