Influence of Low Protein Intake and Skipping Meals on Dysmenorrhea in Adolescence Girls

Abstract Dysmenorrhea is an important topic in adolescent medicine due to the large impact it has on quality of life of teenage and young adult women. Dysmenorrhea is the leading cause of recurrent short term school absence in adolescence girls. The pain that accompanies uterine contractions can affect functional mechanisms, and one of the causes of dysmenorrhea is psychic, and one of those psychic factors is the stress that causes a physiological stress response.
Dysmenorrhea is a common condition and refers to painful menses (menstruation) with severe cramping affecting the lower part of the abdomen. It can be either primary or secondary and is a common complaint among adolescents and women of reproductive age. Dysmenorrhea is known to be the most common cause of pelvic pain.
The questionnaire was self-made, and it was constructed from previous studies. Online and offline questionnaire methods are used for data collection. Awareness classes were held at different classes. Give an awareness class and direct sample collections are held.
The study revealed that Majority of the subjects had moderate pain onset of dysmenorrhea pain. Majority of samples skip their meals in the name of dieting, loss of appetite, lack of time and other reasons. The most of the samples experiencing increased menstrual pain when they skip their meals. Majority of samples doesn’t take protein adequately. Low protein intake and skipping meals can exacerbate dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation). A balanced diet, particularly with sufficient protein, is crucial for overall health and can help alleviate menstrual symptoms.
