Abstract The rapid advancement of technology has opened up new avenues within forensic science and policing. The perspective study focuses on the improved use of drones and Geographic Information System mapping to investigate a crime scene in light of the principles guiding evidence-based policing. Drones provide real-time aerial imagery, high-resolution documentation, and reach into inaccessible locations, while GIS mapping provides spatial analysis, hotspots, and places where crimes are more likely, and perfectly restores the incident scene. These both combine to support objectivity, accuracy, and reliability in evidence collection against traditional methods of investigation, which have a higher likelihood of being prone to human error. This study investigates the operation advantage, challenges, and future possibilities of drones and GIS integration into criminal investigative practices through an approach of perspectives. It has concluded that these pieces further enhance forensic accuracy by adding empirical data-driven insights that form the core of EBP's philosophy. Their systematic use would go a long way toward informing policy, enhancing resource utilization, and establishing transparent, reproducible standards in criminal investigations. The study finishes on a high note of embeddings of drones and GIS technologies into a crime scene investigation a necessary step toward modernizing policing practices and strengthening the scientific underpinning of justice delivery.
