Value of Material Evidence in the Digital Age.

Abstract Within the ever-changing environment of Criminal Law, the evidentiary content and even evidentiary foundation are continually experiencing substantial changes. With respect to material evidence, which is understood to be the facts or issues of a case that govern a case's outcome. Historically, almost exclusively, material evidence was based on tangible items or physical records, now the increasing reliance on digital records and electronic records, and forensic technologies, opens up material evidence to a wholly new domain. The shift necessitates for courts to modify traditional evidentiary principles to new forms of technological change. The paper discusses about the evolving value of material evidence in the digital age, its important contributions, challenges and the effects on the administration of justice.
