Cyber Law and the New Face of E-Commerce Fraud: A Legal Study

| Abstract | The convergence of e-commerce and artificial intelligence (AI) has changed consumer behavior and international trade, changing how companies function in the digital age. Machine learning, natural language processing, and predictive analytics are examples of AI technologies that are now essential for increasing productivity, customizing customer experiences, and improving decision-making. These same technologies, however, have also developed into powerful tools for cybercriminals, enabling more sophisticated, scalable, and challenging-to-trace types of e-commerce fraud. In order to establish a safe online marketplace, this article examines how artificial intelligence has reinterpreted e-commerce fraud, evaluates the shortcomings of existing cyber law frameworks in dealing with AI-generated offenses, and suggests tactical legal, moral, and technological solutions. The study makes the case for the immediate development of legal frameworks that can assign blame, guarantee algorithmic transparency, and protect digital rights by critically evaluating AI's dual-use nature—both as a tool for fraud detection and as a mechanism for sophisticated crimes. Adaptive policy frameworks, ethical governance, and international cooperation are recognized as essential cornerstones in the fight against AI-driven e-commerce fraud. |
