| Abstract | The conventional inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB) is the cornerstone of mandibular anesthesia in oral and maxillofacial surgery. However, its success rate is variable due to anatomical challenges, patient limitations, and technique sensitivity. The Vazirani-Akinosi closed-mouth technique offers an alternative approach with improved success in specific clinical scenarios such as trismus, anatomic variations, and soft-tissue pathologies. |
| Keywords | Vazirani-Akinosi technique, inferior alveolar nerve block, mandibular anesthesia, oral surgery, closed-mouth technique, trismus, nerve block failure. |
