| Abstract | This study investigates the application of data mining techniques specifically the J48 Pruned and Random Forest algorithms for detecting fraudulent funeral insurance claims at A Funeral Parlor in Zimbabwe. Using WEKA software and data from 2020–2024, J48 achieved 99% accuracy, revealing strong fraud indicators including short policy durations, cash payments, and young beneficiaries with irregular payment histories. Results demonstrate that decision trees are both accurate and interpretable, providing a foundation for scalable fraud detection systems in emerging markets like Zimbabwe |
