| Abstract | Boredom is a common emotional state that influences human behaviour, decision-making, and self-regulation. Individuals differ in their susceptibility to boredom, and this variation, known as boredom proneness, often affects the way people respond to daily situations. The present study aims to examine the relationship between boredom proneness, impulsive decision-making behaviour, and self-control among young adults. Data from previous empirical studies were reviewed to identify how these psychological factors interact and influence each other. Findings revealed that individuals with high boredom proneness are more likely to engage in impulsive decisions and display lower levels of self-control. High boredom proneness contributes to restlessness, reduced focus, and the tendency to seek immediate gratification. Conversely, individuals with strong self-control demonstrate better emotional regulation and resist impulsive urges. The study highlights the crucial role of self-control as a protective factor that mitigates the negative effects of boredom and impulsivity. There is a growing need to develop structured interventions to strengthen self-regulation and enhance decision-making skills among young adults. |
