Unlearning Economics: A Few Illustrations

Author(s) Annavajhula J C Bose, Santosh Kumar
Country India
Abstract Keeping in mind undergraduate economics students and teachers as the audience, this paper sketches out how mainstream economics is critiqued with respect to its value-free stance; fantasy and science fiction; uselessness in addressing environmental issues; and promotion of systemic racism. In the process, the paper cracks open the tunnel darkness to see the light of how economics can possibly redeem itself from its failings. The point is that it is high time economic education changed by factoring in the dissension of the non-mainstream economic views.
