| Abstract | Sthaulya (obesity) is one of the many diseases that have afflicted humans in the twenty-first century due to the ongoing changes in lifestyles, the environment, and eating habits. People of all ages, sexes, races, and ethnicities are affected by obesity, which has grown to be a serious health issue worldwide. Over the last 30 years, the prevalence of obesity has risen. Approximately 30 million Indians suffer from obesity at the moment. The medications that are now available to treat obesity are expensive and have significant side effects. Because of its Ushna, Tikshna, and Ruksha Guna, Lekhaniya mahakashaya, as explained by Acharya Charaka, aids in lowering excess fat (Lekhan karma). Thus, it helps with both hyperlipidemia and obesity. Lekhaniya mahakashaya lowers BMI and weight considerably. According to Ayurvedic literature, Santarpana janya vikara results in Medo-dushti, the underlying cause of numerous illnesses. administration of Lekhaniya mahakashaya, which is represented by Katu Vipaka and is hence Vata Kaphahara; Tikta-Katu in Rasa (Bitter taste); Ushna Veerya (Hot in potency); and Laghu and Ruksha (light and dry properties). All of these characteristics work against Medo dhatu, which aids in body fat reduction. Therefore, Lekhaniya mahakashaya can be utilized to manage obesity in an efficient manner. |
