A Model to Validate the Relationship between Perceived Job Effectiveness and Locus of Control among Gen Z: A Competency-Based HRM Approach

Abstract This study develops and validates a regression-based model to examine the relationship between Locus of Control (LoC) and Perceived Job Effectiveness (PJE) among Gen Z employees. Data from 136 respondents were analyzed using simple linear regression, yielding an R² of 0.2008 and a significant positive effect of LoC on PJE (β = 0.0099, p < 0.001). Results suggest that individuals with a higher internal LoC demonstrate greater perceived effectiveness in workplace contexts. The findings reaffirm the relevance of Rotter’s social learning framework and contribute to HRM research on self-efficacy and generational work behavior.
