Abstract In today’s world, people are more aware of food and fitness than ever before, yet lifestyle disorders such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease continue to rise. Ayurveda, the ancient science of life, offers a clear and time-tested solution through the concept of Ashta Ahara Vidhi Vishesh Ayatana that is eight important factors that guide how food should be chosen, prepared, and consumed for maintaining health and preventing disease. Acharya Charaka explained these eight principles as Prakṛti (nature of food and individual), Karaṇa (processing), Saṃyoga (combination), Rashi (quantity), Desha (region or habitat), Kala (time or season), Upayoga Saṃstha (rules for eating), and Upayokta (the person who eats). Together, they describe how diet should match one’s body type, environment, and digestive power, an idea very similar to the modern concept of personalized nutrition. This review article explains each of these eight factors in detail and connects them with present-day scientific views on digestion, metabolism, and diet planning. It also discusses how these Ayurvedic guidelines can help prevent common health problems caused by irregular eating habits and processed food. By exploring the journey from Prakriti to Processing, this study aims to show that the Ashta Ahara Vidhi Vishesh Ayatana is not only an ancient dietary guide but also a scientific approach for personalized and healthy nutrition in the 21st century.
